Welcome
Dear Student:
Clark University College of Professional and Continuing Education graduate programs is dedicated to the sound principles of adult learning: the study of adult experience in the midst of a facilitated learning environment. In that spirit, the Israel Branch of Clark University exists for the purpose of combining the academic curricula of Clark University/COPACE's graduate degree programs with the practical needs of communication professionals and public administrators in Israel. Although the teaching and learning philosophy is the same, the degree programs are quite different from each other.
The Master of Public Administration is over twenty years old in the U.S. and was our first graduate degree offered through the Israel Branch. With a world-wide trend toward government down-sizing and in the midst of the "information revolution", those working for government agencies and non-profit organization are finding the need for an increasingly wide range of administrative skills not easily gained on the job. The Clark University Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) program can provide you with the skills needed for the effective twenty-first century public sector manager. In Israel we offer concentrations in a number of areas including: health systems, educational systems, finance, and local government.
The Master of Science in Professional Communication (M.S.P.C.) has been a popular program in Israel. As modern organizations reflect on issues such as quality assurance, re-engineering, and strategic marketing, it becomes increasingly clear that the successful firm is one that can communicate effectively with its internal and external audiences. As the private and public sectors move beyond labor-management confrontation toward various models of synergy, the ability of the modern manager to communicate effectively and to control or resolve organizational and interpersonal conflicts is crucial.
Finally, as the speed limit on the "information highway" increases daily, the ability to manage information has become a skill the modern manager must have to properly lead their organization. The M.S.P.C. core curriculum covers completely the range of skills that are needed to effectively manage a modern firm. The two elective "stream", marketing communication, including the using of new media technologies and human resources development and training, including conflict transformation, provide the opportunity to further develop skills in professional communication.
I think that you will find that our two graduate degree offer a wide range of skills for those managing in the public and private sectors. Please take a look at our curricula. If you have any questions please contact us. We look forward to seeing you in Israel and at Clark.
Sincerely,
Max Hess
